Ms. Graham, I adore you. I do. You are fierce and powerful and damn good at what you do. But I have to say, I don’t understand. The wonderful girl who posted and pondered on what you thought about the show had a point. I want to hear what YOU have to say. What YOU feel. Would your fans follow you wherever you went? Yes. We still watch the half-assed production of the Bonnie character on TVD so yes, yes we would watch anything you were in. We care because we love you. I get that Bonnie’s not a lead character but neither is Caroline Forbes. Neither is Matt. Neither is Alaric. But each one of them got more screentime than Bonnie when Bonnie is literally the fix-it character of the show.
I don’t want you to see this or what my friend posted as a sign of disrespect because it’s not. It is literally the highest respect I can give. I care about a fictional character because I care about YOU. The difference between the handling of Giancarlo’s characters (and I say characters because the way Sidney is handled on “Once Upon A Time” is absolutely amazing) and Bonnie Bennett is that the writers seem to have a healthy respect for Sidney and Gus and they are so much more than what they seem. Your fans know Bonnie is so much more than she seems but it doesn’t look as if the writers know. Julie Plec…well, I won’t get started on her but she doesn’t have a healthy respect for Bonnie Bennett.
Instead of hearing, “This is all great and the season is going to blow you guys away!” and “This is fantastic! Development for Bonnie!”, some of us would like to hear the truth. Or something a little more deeper than, “Just wait. It’s coming. Any day now, Bonnie will be treated as a legit supporting character than a plot device.” I guess what I’m saying, we just want to know how you really feel or how things really are. We’ve had to put up with a season of lies and dishonesty and it’s just draining. Again, I know for a fact I love you and your work and if you view that is demeaning or disrespectful, I’m sorry. It’s just how I feel.
